Our Value(able) Journey, Part Two

Many companies have value statements. Sure, having well-defined core company values can help you ensure each of your employees works towards the same common goal in a similar manner, and they all share a bigger purpose.

But, here’s the catch: simply having these values written is not enough. They will come to life only when every single employee knows them by heart, lives by them every day, and leans on them as guidance in everything they do. It’s easy to write admirable values; it’s much harder to live them.

In our previous blog
, we described how the process of discovering and creating Q values looked like. Now it’s time to reveal our three core values, the ones we care about the most.

1. Move Fast. Think fast and act fast. Be pragmatic, use Occam’s razor.

We’re pragmatic, like to keep things simple, and say ‘no’ to over-engineering or overthinking. We encourage people to take actions and make decisions even if they turn out to be wrong. It’s better to do 80% today than 100% tomorrow, and a quicker way is usually a better way.

2. Be Kind. Never lose a good heart. Think big but stay humble.

In Q, we keep our word and never break promises. We value others, always look for win-win scenarios, and put ourselves in the shoes of others. We are candid with each other (even when it hurts our interests), appreciative of other people’s views, and make time to help and support each other.

3. Do More. Always do more than people expect. Be passionate, take the initiative.

Going the extra mile is what we always do in our work. We are not focused on the problem but on finding a solution instead (whatever the Q, we have an A, remember?). We take the initiative, deliver more than expected, and push our boundaries each day.

We are integrating these values into everything we do, including how we recruit employees. The more these values portray you, resonate with you and describe people you’d like to be surrounded with, the more likely you will thrive at Q.

Our core values support the company’s vision and shape its culture. I believe many of you heard Peter Drucker’s famous statement that “Culture eats strategy for breakfast.” Q’s fast growth has been supercharged by our culture: it helped us build great teams, attract clients that share the same values, and lead ambitious projects towards market success.

So how would we describe our culture? It’s a unique social and psychological environment of Q where its people are easy, informal, and super casual. It’s central to get things done, but nothing at Q should ever get stied or formal. Talking to the CEO or an Intern, all Qumans should be their true selves, using the same lingo, attitude, or salty jokes. 🙂

We believe that our values and culture form a strong foundation for the company’s creativity, productivity, and profitability, as well as the long-term satisfaction of the employees. We are constantly on the lookout for new ways to nurture and promote them. That’s why our value(able) journey doesn’t end here. On the contrary, it has just begun!
