Discovery









During the discovery phase, we have gathered detailed requirements from stakeholders to understand their vision, target audience, and key functionalities. This phase included meetings, surveys, and research to ensure we had a comprehensive understanding of the project’s goals.
























Design









We have developed a visual style guide to maintain consistency across all pages and elements. This guide included:










  • A color scheme that conveys the brand’s message and is accessible.






  • A modern, legible typography with clear hierarchy.






  • Clean, vector-based icons that enhance usability without cluttering the interface.









The result was a modern, responsive, and clean design that not only looked visually appealing but also provided an excellent user experience. By following best practices and keeping the user at the center of the design process, we achieved a design that was both functional and aesthetically pleasing.























Development









Applications that are being developed are primarily intended for planning, supporting, and executing various logistical operations, as well as managing human and material resources. Regarding preferred technologies, the fantastic four are mainly used: Angular, .NET, MS SQL, and Azure.









Application development follows agile principles. A significant emphasis is placed on clean architecture as a set of good practices ensuring that projects are comprehensible, maintainable, testable, and scalable.









The challenges of developing applications in this industry are numerous. Considering that it is a large, multinational company using various systems and tools, it is necessary to ensure stable data exchange between them.









Therefore, a significant focus is on data import and export, ensuring consistency and integrity. Such challenges are understandable to anyone who has dealt with large datasets. The complexity of these processes varies from relatively simple import and export using Excel and CSV files to much more complex processing in tools like Databricks.









Another issue that can threaten data consistency and integrity is the fact that work on applications often occurs in conditions of weak or no internet availability. Therefore, it is crucial to ensure data storage when the system is offline and synchronisation when the internet becomes available again.

























End Result









An onshore application for entering the ship log data (environmental conditions, marine consumables, log of events, people on board, etc.) that runs on vessels, and a central onshore application collecting said data, collating it, and displaying various dashboards and data, from individual daily reports from the ships, to monitoring of various data trends over time, or across individual projects the ships are engaged in.









There is also a project management application, defining various checklists that serve as templates for tasks that every project needs to complete, as well as tracking the individual state of the completion of those checklists per-project, assigning individual tasks to users, and allowing comments and discussion on those tasks.









Other applications include an equipment transportation system to streamline every aspect of the logistical process, and also a system for streamlining and speeding up the process of project budget estimation and resource task assignments.
