Overview
Austrian agency innovation.rocks partnered up with Q to develop the new, cutting edge AR (Augmented Reality) iOS and Android app for the world’s leading car manufacturer - Volkswagen.
The main purpose of the app is to help VW’s salespeople in presenting the new models to potential buyers at car fairs and in auto-salons. App is also available to anyone through the App Store and Google Play.

Process

Discovery Workshop
We started the process with a 3-day long on-site workshop with innovation.rocks to identify the project’s tech stack, team structure, and which team is responsible for what areas of work.

Agile Team Setup
We covered all of the front-end work and innovation.rocks was in charge of the design and the backend development.

On-site Onboarding
After the first workshop, the whole Q team spent 5 days on the project onboarding in Vienna with the client and project managers from VW.

Development & Launch
In the development period, both Q and innovation.rocks’ team traveled between Vienna and Zagreb for milestone releases until the project was launched.

Challenges
Conclusion
We established a dedicated team which developed the VW SeeMore AR app, in collaboration with the team in Austria and Germany.
The app enables users to scan the real car in the streets, salons, or VW models in the magazines. After scanning, a virtual car model pops-up and the user can discover all the car’s features. Users can position the car anywhere, change the tires, rims, colors, view the car’s equipment and the performance. The user can also have a 360 view of the interior. These are just some of the features which we developed for VW.
Through our development and quality assurance we are continuously developing VW’s apps and helping VW be a leader in innovative sales processes.
