Webshop for the leading power tool company

Managing power tools and construction site
through one platform

German agency Fork and Q partnered up to build, develop, and support a new website, shop, and a web app for one of the largest power tools manufacturing companies in the world - Hilti.

Hilti is a Liechtenstein multinational company that develops, manufactures, and markets products for the construction, building maintenance, and mining industries, mainly to the professional end-user. With 25,000 employees, Hilti is one of the leading brands in the sector.

  1. Workshop

We started the process with an on-site workshop with Fork to identify the project tech-stack, team structure, and which team is responsible for what areas of work.

  2. Frontend Development

We provided the frontend development with a team of 6 senior frontend developers who were in charge of Hilti’s website and webshop.

  3. Launch

After the official launch of Hilti.com, the team was reduced to 3 dedicated frontend developers in charge of maintenance and optimization.

  4. Support and Ongoing Development

Year and a half after the launch, our team of 3 front-end developers still works closely with Hilti and Fork teams on new features, upgrades, and maintenance of the platform with regular trips to Cologne and Liechtenstein.

Fear of near-shoring

Our team quarterly spent 1-2 weeks working on-site to closely collaborate with the Liechtenstein and German team.

Integration of the Q team with teams in Liechtenstein and Germany

Q has a lot of experience in building augmented teams. Therefore, building this team was a short and constructed process to the satisfaction of both sides.

Hilti made development plans every quarter and often needed to scale up very fast

Our agile approach greatly helped with synchronizing with Hilti, therefore we were able to scale up the team within weeks from Hilti’s request.

We have established a dedicated team that collaborated with the rest of the team in Germany and Liechtenstein. Through our development and quality assurance, we developed Hilti.com and helped Hilti stay one step ahead of the competition.

Hilti.com is available in 50+ countries worldwide. The main purpose of the delivered solution is to sell their power tools, but also to provide a web app in which their customers can have all the information about the construction site they are working on, their tools, etc. From a web app, they can order tool repair, get special discounts, and many more services that are key for successful construction projects.
